Recently, shoppers across various regions have encountered difficulties when attempting to opt for self-pickup services at Meituan Xiaoxiang Supermarket. The system displays a notification stating that station services are currently undergoing enhancements. On April 27th, customer service representatives clarified that, in an effort to elevate the delivery experience, the platform is undertaking a comprehensive overhaul of its delivery infrastructure. Consequently, self-pickup services have been temporarily suspended in certain cities. The availability of self-pickup options for users during the order placement process is contingent upon the information presented on the order submission interface. Concurrently, some stations that have retained the self-pickup feature have instituted a new minimum purchase requirement of 20 yuan.

Xiaoxiang Supermarket, previously recognized as 'Meituan Grocery,' underwent a brand transformation in December 2023. This strategic business maneuver may reflect Meituan's endeavor to strike a balance between its retail sector investments and financial constraints, as the suspension of self-pickup services can lead to a reduction in operational and labor expenditures. Prior to this, Xiaoxiang Supermarket had already embarked on trials with offline store configurations, and Meituan is concurrently intensifying its focus on the instant retail sector. Presently, the Chinese instant retail market is witnessing swift expansion. Despite Xiaoxiang Supermarket's rapid growth, it continues to confront intense competition and must emphasize its unique selling propositions to stand out.
