The 5G network has been in commercial use for five to six years, and now, the dawn of the 6G era is looming on the horizon. Initially, expectations for 6G soared, with many envisioning internet speeds 10 to 100 times faster than 5G, ushering in the 1000Gbps (1Tbps) age. However, such lofty ambitions may prove elusive. Presently, the standards for 6G are still being refined, and the ongoing standardization process adopts a more pragmatic approach, abandoning the pursuit of unrealistic, ultra-high benchmarks. Chinese Academy of Engineering academician Wu Hequan highlighted this shift during his address at the Global 6G Technology and Industry Ecosystem Summit.
