Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and other Chromium-based browsers will natively support lazy loading for audio and video. This feature was proposed by independent developer Helmut Januschka and is expected to be available with the release of Chrome version 148. Previously, lazy loading for audio and video relied on JavaScript, which had issues such as poor compatibility and low performance. After the new feature is launched, developers can enable it simply by adding a tag attribute in the code. The browser will load audio and video within the visible area on demand, improving webpage loading speed and saving user data. Currently, the underlying development of this feature has been completed, and the code is enabled by default. Regular users will soon experience smoother webpage browsing.
