Valve stated in its Steam Hardware Blog that the technology shortage triggered by artificial intelligence has affected its hardware release plans. The company originally planned to announce product pricing and launch dates at this time, but due to intensified memory and storage shortages in the industry, as well as limited supply and rising prices of key components, Valve needs to reevaluate the shipping plans and pricing for the Steam Machine and Steam Frame. Nevertheless, Valve remains committed to releasing hardware products in the first half of 2026 and has promised to finalize plans as soon as possible, sharing feature analyses and updates through the blog in the meantime. Additionally, the blog post also addressed frequently asked questions, confirming that while Light House base station support has not been developed, the Steam Frame features modularity and expandability, and introduces a new function called 'foveated streaming,' which operates on a different principle from foveated rendering technology.
