Recently, a notable milestone has been reached in the realm of compressed air energy storage technology. The Institute of Engineering Thermophysics at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, working hand in hand with China Energy Storage (Beijing) Technology Co., Ltd., has achieved remarkable progress. The two entities have jointly developed the world's inaugural and largest single-unit power compressed air energy storage compressor, which has successfully undergone third-party testing and exhibits performance indicators that lead the world.
Serving as the linchpin of a compressed air energy storage system, this newly crafted compressor is fully equipped with independent intellectual property rights. It not only significantly boosts the power output of a single unit but also effectively cuts down on unit costs. Since 2005, the institute has been wholeheartedly devoted to research in this field, laying the groundwork for a comprehensive research and development design system. Moreover, it has taken the helm in constructing numerous national demonstration projects.
This breakthrough heralds a fresh chapter in the evolution of global compressed air energy storage technology, with the relevant endeavors being bolstered by multiple projects.
