On January 28th, Amazon unveiled plans to embark on an organizational restructuring initiative, which will entail the layoff of around 16,000 employees. The majority of those affected are white-collar staff at its U.S. headquarters, though the impact will be felt across multiple regions worldwide. To assist affected U.S. employees, Amazon will provide a 90-day window for internal transfers. Additionally, it will offer transitional support, including severance packages, to those who are unable to find new roles within the company. According to some netizens, the layoff ratio within Amazon's Beijing team soared to as high as 50%, with entire teams reportedly being "wiped out."
