On Tuesday, Carol Tomé, the CEO of UPS, remarked that the burgeoning AI data center sector offers the world's premier package delivery and logistics company several decades' worth of growth prospects. UPS intends to streamline its overall freight operations, concentrating instead on managing high-value shipments as a strategy to enhance profitability. Projections indicate that by 2026, worldwide expenditure on data centers will soar to around US$1 trillion, with the possibility of more than doubling by the close of this decade. This surge is attributed to significant investments by tech behemoths like Alphabet, Microsoft, Meta, and Amazon in AI infrastructure, necessitating extensive new power infrastructure to adequately support the energy demands and cooling requirements of servers and computer chips.
