On October 27 (local time), Oracle and Google made a joint announcement stating that Google's Tensor Processing Units (TPUs) will be seamlessly integrated into Oracle's Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). With this move, Oracle is set to become the inaugural hyperscale cloud service provider, apart from Google itself, to offer TPU services. The anticipated launch of this service is slated for 2027, with a phased expansion planned in the subsequent years to cater to extensive model training, inference, and agent applications. Google's eighth-generation TPUs encompass the TPU 8t, tailored for training purposes, and the TPU 8i, optimized for inference tasks.
