Cloudflare's CEO, Matthew Prince, revealed that following the disclosure of a critical vulnerability in PHP, the company has observed millions of attempts to exploit this security gap. Notably, there were already thousands of exploitation attempts in the mere 10 hours preceding the public announcement of the vulnerability. Within just 45 minutes after its disclosure, the number of attempts surged to tens of thousands, and within two hours, it escalated to hundreds of thousands, culminating in a cumulative total that now stands in the millions. In response to the vulnerability's disclosure, website operators across the globe swiftly implemented protective measures, leading to the temporary offline status of certain government websites in Europe and other areas.
