On September 18, India's premier state-backed infrastructure financing entity sanctioned loans surpassing 30 billion rupees (around $313 million) each for a minimum of four data centers, underscoring India's proactive stance in fostering artificial intelligence (AI) development. Rajkiran Rai G., the Managing Director of the National Bank for Financing Infrastructure and Development, disclosed that these loans are accompanied by a grace period extending up to five years, succeeded by a phased repayment schedule over a span of ten years. The surge in financing requests reflects the escalating commitment of Indian enterprises to large-scale ventures, particularly data centers. Furthermore, a diverse array of global investors, including EQT AB, Blackstone Group, and Alphabet Inc., alongside indigenous firms such as the Adani Group, have pledged substantial investments amounting to billions of dollars nationwide to construct AI computing infrastructure.
