Amazon, recognized as the world's largest cloud service provider, experienced a remarkable surge of over 4% in its share price during early trading hours. This surge propelled its total market capitalization to an unprecedented $3.05 trillion, marking a historic peak. Notably, the revenue growth rate of its AWS cloud division achieved its highest level in 18 quarters. The company has also revised its capital expenditure projections upwards for 2026, reflecting a bullish outlook on the long-term, trillion-dollar revenue prospects associated with artificial intelligence (AI). Amazon anticipates that the demand for AI computing power will persistently outstrip supply.
As the commercialization of generative AI accelerates, by the end of July, all nine of the world's leading cloud service providers had increased their capital expenditures. Both domestic and international corporations have ramped up their investments in computing infrastructure, including intelligent computing centers, with expansion initiatives surpassing initial expectations.
