On July 14, 2026, the Information Office of the State Council convened a press conference. At this event, pertinent officials from the General Administration of Customs provided an overview of the import and export landscape for the first half of the year. Notably, the import and export volume of computing hardware soared to RMB 5.13 trillion, representing a substantial year-on-year surge of 56.6%. In terms of exports, electromechanical products shone brightly, with an export value reaching RMB 9.36 trillion, up by 20.1%, and accounting for a significant 63.5% of the total export value. Moreover, exports of high-tech products and independent brands witnessed remarkable growth, increasing by 39% and 25.4%, respectively. On the import front, the growth rate of imports outpaced that of exports by 8.7 percentage points. The import volume of bulk commodities stood at 1.429 billion tons, marking a 3.4% increase. Meanwhile, the import value of electromechanical products climbed to RMB 4.41 trillion, a 28% rise, and the import value of agricultural products reached RMB 768.48 billion, reflecting an 8.6% increase.
