The Ecolab Group recently declared the successful conclusion of its acquisition of CoolIT, a liquid cooling company, for a sum of around $4.75 billion. Propelled by a significant uptick in demand for liquid cooling solutions in AI data centers, CoolIT has witnessed a remarkable sales growth of over 100% since the beginning of 2026. This strategic acquisition enables Ecolab to extend its water technology prowess into the AI infrastructure sector, equipping it to deliver comprehensive, end-to-end solutions throughout the AI value chain.
Ecolab has plans to roll out a cutting-edge 3D TRASAR™ cooling platform, which will incorporate CoolIT’s technology, in November 2026. Already receiving backing from NVIDIA, this platform is designed to enhance resource utilization and boost performance within data centers. With the acquisitions of Voviwo and CoolIT, Ecolab’s annual global sales in the high-tech business have skyrocketed from approximately $150 million in 2021 to nearly $1.5 billion. Projections indicate that this figure will climb to $4 billion by 2030, with operating profit margins expected to reach 25%. Ecolab has stated that it will empower its customers to achieve scalable and sustainable AI operations.
