On July 6, 2026, SpaceX disclosed its plan to build an AI data center, aiming to produce 1 gigawatt of space-based computing power annually and advance the deorbiting of approximately 100 first-generation Starlink satellites. The AI1 satellite adopts a minimalist architecture, equipped with a massive solar array and a liquid cooling system, supporting flexible replacement of computing hardware and interconnected with the Starlink network via laser inter-satellite links. SpaceX plans to achieve large-scale mass production by the end of 2027, launching over 6,000 satellites annually, with a long-term plan to reach 1 million satellites.
