SpaceX is gearing up to launch its Starlink retail mobile services in the American market. The company intends to directly market mobile phone plans to consumers and is contemplating the establishment of a terrestrial mobile network. This strategic move aims to forge a hybrid communication system that seamlessly integrates satellite and ground networks. By doing so, SpaceX is poised to enter into direct competition with the three leading mobile operators in the United States.
As reported by the Financial Times, SpaceX President Gwynne Shotwell has already shared this vision with investors during the company's Initial Public Offering (IPO) roadshow. Presently, Starlink services boast a global presence, spanning over 150 countries and regions, and have amassed a customer base exceeding 10.3 million.
