On June 24, Masayoshi Son, the chairman of SoftBank Group, delved into the topic of data center investments during a shareholders' meeting. He disclosed that a memorandum of understanding is currently in the process of being signed with a client concerning a development project in Ohio, USA. Son emphasized that if this project comes to fruition, it will yield substantial profits.
Addressing the issue of power consumption associated with data centers, Son mentioned that SB Energy, a subsidiary of SoftBank, is spearheading the project. He revealed that the power supply required for a single data center facility in this project would be on par with that of 10 nuclear power plants, underscoring SoftBank's ambition to construct the world's largest data center.
