A cohort of Amazon engineers, who voiced their criticism against the company's frenetic expansion of AI data centers and advocated for more stringent government oversight, are now the subject of an internal investigation. Earlier this month, the Seattle City Council in the United States sought public input on a proposed policy to halt the construction of new large-scale data center projects for a duration of one year, with the objective of refining the pertinent regulatory framework. During the hearing, five Amazon employees were present and provided their testimonies. Subsequently, on June 9, the Seattle City Council unanimously approved this temporary suspension on construction.
