On March 23, Liu Liehong, the Director of the National Data Bureau, announced at the 2026 Annual Meeting of the China Development Forum that Tokens, also known as "word elements," act as the cornerstone of value in the era of intelligence. They function as the "unit of settlement" that bridges technological supply with commercial demand, enabling the quantification and implementation of business models. He further elaborated that at the beginning of 2024, China's average daily Token invocation volume stood at 100 billion. By the end of 2025, this figure had surged to 100 trillion and exceeded 140 trillion in March of this year, marking an astonishing increase of over a thousandfold in just two years.
