Recently, Tencent officially unveiled its SkillHub platform, sparking market speculation that the tech giant was scraping skill data from Clawhub and integrating it into SkillHub. In reaction to these rumors, Peter Steinberger, the esteemed Austrian programmer and founder of OpenClaw, took to social media to share that he had received emails voicing concerns about how his rate limits were impeding data scraping efforts. Steinberger accused Tencent of "plagiarism and a lack of support for the original project." However, sources from Tencent Cloud indicate that Tencent has responded to these allegations directly under the relevant tweets. The company clarified that SkillHub merely offers local mirror services tailored for Chinese users, with clear attribution to ClawHub as the original source. Tencent further highlighted that, despite distributing a substantial 180GB of data (equating to 870,000 downloads) in its inaugural week, the platform only sourced approximately 1GB from the official repository, thereby effectively sharing the traffic burden of the original project. Moreover, Tencent emphasized that its team members actively contribute code and participate in pull request (PR) reviews for the original project, underscoring their ongoing commitment to fostering the ecosystem's growth and development.
