Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chair Brendan Carr sharply criticized Amazon on Wednesday, accusing it of opposing SpaceX's orbital data center plan while making slow progress on its own satellite deployment. In a post on X, Carr stated that Amazon is still about 1,000 satellites short of its deployment milestone and should not waste time and resources suing other companies that are launching large numbers of satellites into orbit. Last week, Amazon urged the FCC to reject SpaceX's application to launch up to 1 million low-Earth orbit satellites, which would form a space-based data center network to support artificial intelligence projects.
