On March 2nd, a significant stride was made as the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, Shanghai Municipal Data Bureau, and the National Blockchain Technology Innovation Center came together to sign a Memorandum of Cooperation focused on the digitalization of Shanghai-Hong Kong freight trade and finance. As outlined in the memorandum, the three entities will collaborate to delve into innovative partnerships within the realm of digital technology and its applications. They aim to foster the utilization and innovation of digital technology across various sectors, notably freight trade and finance. Furthermore, they will investigate the potential of digital technology in constructing cross-border platforms, engage in cross-border financial collaborations, examine the implementation of electronic bills of lading, and strive for seamless integration with Business Data Connectivity and Cargox. By harnessing freight and trade data, they intend to streamline trade financing between the two regions, marking a pivotal moment in their cooperative endeavors.
