On February 23 (local time), telecommunications behemoth Ericsson made an announcement that it would be joining forces with Apple and MediaTek to exhibit crucial 6G technology capabilities at the upcoming MWC2026 Barcelona, slated to commence on the 2nd of next month. As part of its collaboration with Apple, Ericsson is set to showcase the MRSS (Multi-Radio Access Spectrum Sharing) solution, which is designed to facilitate seamless spectrum sharing between 5G and 6G technologies. This innovative solution will empower telecom operators to navigate a smooth transition and ensure the coexistence of 5G and 6G networks. A live demonstration will spotlight a 5G system that is interconnected with Ericsson's TDD mid-band base station, operating in tandem with a 6G simulation system. In its alliance with MediaTek, the duo will jointly present cmWave (centimeter wave) technology. The associated closed-environment prototype testing system seamlessly integrates Ericsson's wireless RAN with MediaTek's user equipment prototype, emphasizing the competitive buffer status reporting low-latency technology within the 6G technology framework.
