AES Corporation has declared that it has entered into a 20-year power supply pact with Google. Under this agreement, AES will supply electricity to Google's newly constructed data center in Wilbarger County, Texas, and both parties have also inked a deal to support power generation projects. Spurred by this announcement, AES's stock price experienced a 1.2% uptick in pre-market trading. At present, the burgeoning development of artificial intelligence has spurred a significant increase in electricity demand. This trend has led numerous utility companies across the United States to ink power supply agreements, while also sparking concerns over escalating electricity bills. Google has expressed that this agreement will catalyze the development of new clean power generation initiatives, thereby easing grid strain and managing costs. As of now, AES has secured nearly 12 gigawatts of energy-related agreements with data center clients and will undertake the construction of the requisite shared power infrastructure.
