On February 4 (Eastern Time), the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) accepted and made public an application submitted by SpaceX for the construction of a non-geostationary satellite system. FCC Chairman Brendan Carr posted on social media, welcoming the application and soliciting public comments. SpaceX submitted the application on January 30, planning to build an orbital data center network comprising up to one million satellites to support advanced AI models and related applications. SpaceX stated that this system would represent the first step toward a Kardashev Type II civilization.
