According to the official website of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), China is set to submit an application to the ITU in December 2025, seeking frequency and orbit resources for over 200,000 satellites. More than 190,000 of these applications will be filed by the Radio Innovation Institute. Experts have noted that this development signifies that the pursuit of satellite frequency and orbit resources has ascended to a national strategic priority. Although these satellite resources are currently in the application phase, awaiting ITU approval, and may not necessarily lead to successful deployment even post-approval, experts remain optimistic about the potential of the Radio Innovation Institute, viewing it as a 'national champion.' They believe it can effectively consolidate industrial resources, capitalize on China's vast market advantages, and expedite the industry's progress in catching up with SpaceX.
