On December 22, at approximately 10 PM, the Kuaishou platform fell victim to a large-scale cyberattack orchestrated by a cybercrime network. This assault led to the collapse of Kuaishou's security infrastructure within a mere 60 to 90 minutes. The attackers harnessed the power of roughly 17,000 zombie accounts to launch livestreams, which served as a conduit for the widespread dissemination of illicit content. Wang Liejun, a distinguished security expert from Qianxin, highlighted that the root cause behind the attack's immense destructive capacity is the cybercrime network's transition into the realm of 'automated attacks.' This stands in stark contrast to the platform's continued reliance on conventional, manually-driven defense mechanisms. The expert further cautioned that enhancing corporate cybersecurity should transcend mere external attack prevention. It should also underscore the potential dangers posed by internal vulnerabilities. Enterprises are advised to embrace a 'holistic defense strategy,' encompassing both internal and external safeguards. This approach entails fortifying internal defenses, implementing robust 'anti-insider threat' protocols, and refining permission management practices.
