On Wednesday, the Office of the South Korean President announced that Amazon Web Services (AWS) is set to invest a minimum of $5 billion in South Korea by 2031. This substantial investment will be earmarked for the development of new artificial intelligence data centers, a move that will bolster Seoul's aspirations to become a leading AI hub in Asia. The announcement was made by AWS CEO Matt Garman during his meeting with South Korean President Lee Jae-myung at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit. It's worth noting that Amazon had previously unveiled an investment plan, in partnership with SK Group, exceeding $4 billion back in June.
