As the clock ticks down to a potential U.S. government shutdown, the three major U.S. stock indices opened the trading day with modest declines. The Nasdaq Composite Index slipped 0.04%, the S&P 500 Index dropped 0.08%, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average dipped 0.04%. On the individual stock front, CoreWeave emerged as a standout performer, surging over 10% after inking a $14 billion computing power supply deal with Meta. EchoStar Communications also saw a near 4% rise, as Verizon is reportedly in discussions to acquire some of its wireless spectrum assets. Meanwhile, Wolfspeed's stock price skyrocketed more than 31% following the company's announcement of its emergence from bankruptcy protection, with former executives from Micron and Corning poised to join its board.
