At the inaugural ceremony of the 2025 World Manufacturing Convention, Liu Liehong, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Director of the National Data Administration, emphasized that data functions as a cornerstone resource and a driving force for innovation, propelling the high-quality development of the manufacturing sector, with its cascading impact in industrial settings gaining momentum. He noted that, presently, there is a lack of adequate focus and investment in data, coupled with a weak market propensity to pay for premium-quality data. To counter this, he put forward three recommendations: firstly, manufacturing firms should ramp up their investment in the data domain and actively engage in the data industry; secondly, nurture a market mindset that values paying for high-quality data and refine the data element market; thirdly, collaborate to prevent and curb cutthroat competition, steering enterprises back towards an innovation- and data-centric development paradigm.
