On September 9, 2025, Zhang Yunming, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), stated at a press conference held by the State Council Information Office that the MIIT will take steps to advance the construction of new infrastructure in the next phase, consolidate its globally leading position in basic networks, expand 5G network coverage in key cities and high-demand areas, guide the transition of 10-gigabit optical networks from technology pilot projects to deployment and application, optimize the layout of computing infrastructure, strengthen the coordinated development of computing power and networks, accelerate the upgrading of integrated infrastructure, build new industrial networks, advance the deployment of the Internet of Vehicles, and establish a modern information infrastructure system.
