Semtech set a $2.1 billion data center revenue target for fiscal 2030 at its October 15 Analyst Day, outlining a strategy to increase its semiconductor content in AI optical and copper interconnects. The framework calls for 75% compound annual growth in data center revenue from FY2026 through FY2030. These are management objectives—not contracted revenue, backlog or formal long-term guidance—and the growth rate applies specifically to data center net sales.
The networking opportunity centers on the analog components inside high-speed connections. Semtech’s FiberEdge portfolio includes transimpedance amplifiers and laser drivers for 100G- and 200G-per-channel optical links supporting 800G and 1.6T modules, with 400G-per-channel technology targeting 3.2T. DirectEdge addresses linear pluggable optics, while CopperEdge provides signal conditioning for active copper connections. Management sees an opportunity to capture more than ten times its content in optical modules as architectures evolve; this is an opportunity assessment rather than a disclosed customer purchasing commitment.
Separately, Semtech raised its Q3 FY2027 sales outlook to $417.5 million, plus or minus $2.5 million, from $410 million, plus or minus $5 million. It increased adjusted diluted EPS guidance to $1.14, plus or minus $0.02, from $1.05, plus or minus $0.03. This quarterly outlook is distinct from the FY2030 framework, which sets goals of $3.2 billion in company revenue and a 70% adjusted gross margin.

“AI is driving demand to move more data, faster, with less power,” said Dr. Hong Hou, Semtech’s president and CEO.
Analysis
Semtech’s strategy connects two opportunities: supplying components for higher-speed links and increasing its content within each connection. Its optical portfolio spans receive-side amplifiers and transmit-side drivers, including devices for linear optical architectures. Its copper products address short-reach connections that continue to form part of AI systems. This gives the company exposure to several interconnect implementations as customers evaluate bandwidth, reach, power and packaging requirements.
Manufacturing capacity is another part of that strategy. On October 13, Semtech and Tower Semiconductor expanded their multiyear silicon germanium manufacturing relationship, covering dedicated capacity in the United States, Israel and Japan. The agreement supports TIAs, modulator and laser drivers, and linear equalizers. Financial terms, wafer volumes and a detailed ramp schedule were not disclosed.
The financial distinction matters: a design opportunity or manufacturing agreement does not establish the revenue required to achieve the FY2030 target. Semtech explicitly describes its framework as goals rather than guidance or forecasts. Progress should therefore be measured through reported data center sales, product ramps and customer adoption over successive quarters.
