Regulatory filings on Taiwan's NCC certification website reveal that Apple is poised to adopt the forthcoming Qi 2.2 wireless charging standard by the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC). As an enhancement to the existing Qi standard, Qi 2.2 builds upon the advancements of Qi 2.1. Currently, the iPhone 16 series adheres to the Qi2 (v2.1) specification. With the WPC anticipated to introduce the Qi2.2 specification for 25W applications by the end of 2024, it is plausible that the iPhone 17 will be fully compliant with Qi2.2, offering an enhanced 25W magnetic alignment fast charging experience, complemented by improved thermal management and energy efficiency.
