On May 15, Japan Display Inc. (JDI) made an announcement regarding a significant restructuring plan, revealing that it will seek approximately 1,500 voluntary resignations from its workforce in Japan. This figure encompasses both regular employees and contract workers, accounting for more than half of the company's total domestic personnel. According to JDI's consolidated financial report for fiscal year 2024, the company incurred a net loss of 78.2 billion yen (roughly equivalent to RMB 3.9 billion), while sales dropped by 21.4% year-on-year to 188 billion yen. Amidst these persistent operational challenges, Chairman and CEO Scott Callon has decided to step down from his position.
