Apple has officially rolled out the iOS 18.5 update, patching a total of 31 vulnerabilities, including the inaugural one discovered in its in-house 5G modem, C1. Known as CVE-2025-31214, this C1 vulnerability could have potentially enabled attackers to intercept network traffic. However, Apple has resolved this issue by enhancing its state management system. The C1 modem integrates a 5G modem and an FR1 radio frequency transceiver, leveraging a 7nm process to achieve a remarkable 25% improvement in power efficiency. First introduced in the iPhone 16e, this modem signifies Apple's dwindling reliance on Qualcomm. The company aims to fully sever its dependence on Qualcomm by 2027.
