Prior to the launch of the RTX 50 series, NVIDIA confidently assured users that the issue of the 16-pin power connector melting on the RTX 4090 had been addressed, underscoring the enhanced safety features of the new graphics cards. Nonetheless, recent reports have emerged of power cable connectors overheating during testing on models like the RTX 5090D. Preliminary investigations suggest that the root cause may not lie with the RTX 50 series itself, with suspicions turning towards potential issues with the power supply unit or the power cables themselves. Notably, NVIDIA had already implemented improvements to the power connector and had advised users to be mindful of their power supply specifications.
