On January 19, General Serhiy Shaptala, the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, announced that Ukraine is independently advancing the development of air defense systems to counter the threat posed by Russia's medium-range hypersonic 'Dagger' missile. This comes in response to Russia's deployment of a 'Dagger' missile against the Ukrainian city of Dnipro in November last year, a move retaliatory to the West's authorization for Ukraine to employ long-range missiles against targets within Russian territory.
