TSMC to Initiate Trial Production of 2nm Process at Kaohsiung Facility Later This Month
2025-01-13

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) has embarked on trial production of 2nm wafers at its Baoshan facility, with an initial target of manufacturing 5,000 units. This comes after the company had previously achieved a significant milestone of a 60% yield for this advanced process. TSMC intends to position its Baoshan and Kaohsiung plants as the primary hubs for the production of 2nm wafers. Given the seamless progression of trial production, it is anticipated that 2nm technology will transition into mass production by 2025. TSMC remains committed to investing in research and development (R&D) to sustain its technological preeminence and cater to the market's growing demand for high-performance chips.
