On October 29, the A-share market concluded with a lackluster overall performance. The Shanghai Composite Index witnessed a decline of 0.83% (previously stated as 0.82%, corrected for precision), the Shenzhen Component Index plummeted by 2.92%, and the ChiNext Index experienced the steepest drop at 4.45%. The STAR 50 Index also followed suit, falling by 4.27%. Trading volume on the Shanghai and Shenzhen stock exchanges amounted to 1.56 trillion yuan, marking a reduction of 72 billion yuan from the preceding day.

On the trading floor, over 4,700 stocks finished in the red. The CPO sector continued to languish, with Tianfu Communication hitting the 20CM limit down at one point. Biwin Storage and Unitek Technology both tumbled more than 15%, while Yuanjie Technology saw a nearly 12% drop. The memory chip sector also exhibited weakness, with ACM Research declining nearly 16%, and PZ Laser and SJ Semiconductor both shedding more than 10% of their value. Optical fiber concept stocks were uniformly down, with Changyingtong and Accelink Technologies plunging more than 15%, and Robotech and Changxin Botech both falling over 14%. AIPC, PET copper foil, and consumer electronics concept stocks were among the worst performers.

In stark contrast, the banking sector stood out with a robust performance. Industrial and Commercial Bank of China and China Construction Bank reached all-time highs in their share prices. Moreover, stocks held by the China Securities Finance Corporation and horse racing concept stocks bucked the market trend, posting gains.
