At a recent deliberative session, Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry revealed its plan to channel an extra 400 billion yen into Rapidus, a cutting-edge semiconductor manufacturer.
Of this sum, 150 billion yen is earmarked for the fiscal 2027 budget, while the remaining 250 billion yen is set to be distributed across fiscal 2028 and 2029.
Prior to this, the Japanese government had already injected 250 billion yen into Rapidus, with the dual objectives of sustaining the company’s equity ratio, facilitating its access to private financing, and looking forward to substantial investment returns.
