On October 20, South Korean stocks witnessed a sharp decline of over 3% on Tuesday, closing at their lowest point in more than six months. Chip stocks, in particular, underperformed amid concerns tied to the global AI investment surge. After rebounding for two straight trading days, the Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) tumbled 215.27 points, or 3.73%, to settle at 5,552.74 points on Tuesday. This marked its lowest closing level since April 7. Lee Kyoung-min, an analyst at Daishin Securities, pointed out that the recent rebound's sustainability is constrained, as issues concerning AI investment's creditworthiness and profitability remain unresolved.
