Recently, a Reddit user shared their experience of noticing substantial discrepancies between two AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 processors they bought from Amazon. Both processors were sold and shipped directly by Amazon, arriving in sealed packaging with matching top markings. However, the newly acquired processor featured a sizable section on the bottom surface devoid of gold contacts, a deviation from the standard layout of an AM5 interface processor. Investigations indicate that the defective processor may have been masqueraded as an aged Intel chip, with scammers removing the original top cover, substituting it with a different heat-dissipating top cover, and then resealing the package to perpetrate the fraud. Such occurrences underscore the regulatory gaps present in the return procedures of third-party platforms. Therefore, when purchasing high-value hardware, consumers are advised to opt for official authorized channels and to record comprehensive unboxing videos as evidence for safeguarding their rights.
