On October 15, reports from international media indicated that European stocks associated with chips and artificial intelligence (AI) experienced a sharp decline, following in the footsteps of the sell-off witnessed in both the U.S. and Asian markets. By 15:26 Beijing time, the EURO STOXX Technology Index had tumbled by 3.5%, reaching its lowest point in over three weeks and marking the most significant drop among all sectors within the EURO STOXX 600 Index. Within this downturn, major players in the technology sector, such as ASML and STMicroelectronics, saw their share prices plunge between 6.5% and 9.8%. Manufacturers of silicon wafers, including Siltronic and Soitec, fared even worse, with their stocks dropping roughly 9% to 11%. Furthermore, other stocks linked to AI, such as Nokia and Prysmian, also felt the impact, with declines hovering around 4% to 7%.
