According to sources familiar with the matter, a potential investment plan involves multiple wafer fabrication plants, contingent upon the U.S. Congress extending the advanced manufacturing tax credit policy set to expire at the end of this year. TSMC has already invested $265 billion to build a plant in Arizona. Since the beginning of this year, the North American market has contributed over 75% of its wafer revenue. Driven by strong AI demand, customers such as NVIDIA, Apple, and AMD have brought a significant number of advanced process orders to TSMC, leading to tight capacity and nearly doubling its equipment capital expenditures over the past year. If the Texas project is confirmed, the cost of a single wafer fabrication plant is expected to be at least $20 billion. Currently, the plan is still in its early stages, with details not yet disclosed.
