On September 29, it was reported that South Korea's September trade data will be released on Thursday. According to a survey by The Wall Street Journal, influenced by strong semiconductor demand, although South Korea's export growth in September is expected to slow down compared to last month, the overall performance remains robust. The median expectation from 13 economists in the survey shows that South Korea's exports in September are expected to increase by 65.4% year-on-year, lower than the 68.7% growth in August; imports are expected to increase by 21.8% year-on-year, with a trade surplus possibly reaching $39.4 billion. Despite the reduced working days in September due to the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, the growth in semiconductor exports is expected to drive South Korea's monthly exports to exceed $100 billion for the first time. Park Sang-hyun, chief economist at iM Securities, stated that the strong growth in chip exports will compensate for the losses from reduced working days. Citigroup economist Jin Jin-wook expects that South Korea's trade surplus in September may exceed $40 billion, setting a new record high.
