On September 29, it was reported that TSMC is considering expanding its production footprint in the United States by planning to build a second manufacturing base, which may include up to six advanced wafer fabrication plants, with Dallas, Texas, identified as one of the potential locations. The new wafer fabrication plants may adopt more advanced processes, with total investment potentially exceeding the $265 billion already committed by TSMC in Arizona. TSMC has not yet issued a formal response to this news. Previously, TSMC announced an investment of $265 billion in Arizona to construct six wafer fabrication plants, two advanced packaging facilities, and a research and development center.
