On September 28, Yu Weining, Chief Statistician of the Industrial Department at the National Bureau of Statistics, interpreted the profit data of industrial enterprises from January to August 2026. The data showed that profits in the electronics industry surged by 1.1 times year-on-year from January to August, contributing 62% to the profit growth of industrial enterprises above designated size, becoming a key factor driving their rapid growth. Among them, strong demand in emerging fields such as new energy vehicles, the Internet of Things, and computing centers drove growth in chip demand, with profits in the optoelectronic device manufacturing and semiconductor discrete device manufacturing industries increasing by 72% and 51.8%, respectively. Meanwhile, the rapid development of the electronic basic raw materials sector also drove significant profit growth in the electronic special materials manufacturing and electronic circuit manufacturing industries, by 2.3 times and 49.1%, respectively.
