Yu Weining, the Chief Statistician of the Industrial Department at the National Bureau of Statistics, offered insights into the profit data of industrial enterprises for the period from January to August 2026. He underscored the remarkable profit growth within the electronics industry. The accelerated integration of new technologies, notably artificial intelligence, has spurred expanded demand across related sectors, fueling rapid profit growth in the electronics industry. From January to August, the electronics industry witnessed a 1.1-fold increase in profits year-on-year, contributing a substantial 62% to the profit growth of all industrial enterprises above a designated size, thus emerging as a pivotal pillar. Notably, emerging sectors such as new energy vehicles, the Internet of Things (IoT), and computing centers have driven heightened demand for chips. Consequently, profits in the optoelectronic device manufacturing and semiconductor discrete device manufacturing industries soared by 72% and 51.8%, respectively. Additionally, the electronic basic raw materials sector experienced rapid development, with profits in the electronic specialty materials manufacturing and electronic circuit manufacturing industries surging by 2.3 times and 49.1%, respectively.
