On September 15th, as the third quarter draws to a close, resource prices have been on an upward trajectory for nearly three months, culminating in DDR5 sub-grade particles and embedded LP resources hitting an all-time high. However, given that customers' price tolerance for DDR5 memory modules and LP4X/5X finished products is nearing its breaking point, and in light of the continuously shrinking demand, some memory manufacturers have started to decelerate their resource procurement. It is anticipated that a scenario characterized by 'low demand, low inventory accumulation, and low shipments' will prevail for the foreseeable future. Over the past six months, starting from last September, the cumulative price hike for sub-grade particles used in DDR5 memory modules has surpassed sixfold. Following a brief dip in late March, prices have been trading sideways before rebounding and continuing their ascent at the onset of the third quarter, ultimately reaching a fresh historical peak. In reaction to escalating costs, manufacturers within the industry have repeatedly hiked the prices of associated finished products. Nevertheless, high-priced offerings have encountered resistance from the majority of customers, with only a handful of overseas clients accepting them. This week, the prices of 8GB and 16GB DDR5 memory modules have experienced a marginal uptick. Presently, a growing number of PC OEM manufacturers are contemplating downgrading their solutions to mitigate cost pressures. The shift in customer demand will exacerbate the challenges in shipments, prompting memory manufacturers to adopt a more cautious approach in procuring high-priced resources in the future.
