Lobbyists point out that the tariffs will make it more difficult for US companies to obtain semiconductors needed for artificial intelligence development, thereby hindering the expansion of data centers. Currently, US tech giants are investing in artificial intelligence on an unprecedented scale, pouring hundreds of billions of dollars into large data centers and competing to purchase the cutting-edge chips required to run these centers. A tech industry official from a major trade association, who previously served in the Trump administration's first term, criticized the move, stating that it might be the least sensible way to pursue US AI dominance, akin to shooting oneself in both feet at the starting line.
