On the 11th, data unveiled by Statistics Korea and the Korea Customs Service revealed that in the second quarter of this year, South Korea witnessed a substantial 57.3% year-on-year surge in its export volume, which climbed to US$275.5 billion, marking a new historical peak. Analytical insights suggest that the semiconductor sector has emerged as the key driver propelling the notable overall export growth, significantly amplifying exports from large-scale enterprises. Its year-on-year growth rate (81.8%) vastly outpaces that of medium-sized pivotal enterprises (10.9%) and small and medium-sized enterprises (13.1%). The aggregate share of the top 10 exporting firms in the total export volume rose by 17 percentage points year-on-year, reaching 55.3%, also setting a new record high.
